Big fish is committed to preventing acts of modern slavery and human trafficking.
This statement is made in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps we take to identify, address and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain.
No incidents of modern slavery or human trafficking were reported within our business or supply chain during the previous financial year, nor in the first six months of the current financial year.
Structure of our organisation.
Big fish is a UK registered climate considerate brand, design and marketing consultancy. Our offices are in Chelsea Wharf, London, SW10 0QJ. We currently have no overseas offices although we have overseas clients, principally but not exclusively in Europe.
Our supply chains mainly include printing and packaging production companies, media agencies, software companies, I.T. and other office equipment, professional services, food and catering suppliers, office cleaning and other office facilities services.
We support companies and initiatives that strive to increase the quality and duration of all life on Earth. Our clients’ growth, our team’s personal development, our net positive carbon impact and our financial independence is how we measure our success. We are in the process of seeking accreditation as a B Corp and subscribe to the theories and practices set out in Project Drawdown.
We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. Our anti-slavery and human trafficking policy reflects our commitment to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place.
We do not operate in a high risk industry nor a high risk jurisdiction and based on the nature of our business and location of operations, there is an extremely low risk of any modern slavery in our own operations. In particular, we do not hire any temporary staff, or staff paid by the hour, and we only employ staff within the UK. However, we recognise that we have a low risk through our use of third party suppliers, so we have focused our attention on minimising the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain by implementing effective due diligence processes.
Despite many of our suppliers being well-established businesses with their own ethical policies, we have introduced our own Environment and Ethics Questionnaire for suppliers, covering environmental and social standards and labour issues. This requires the supplier to confirm that they comply with all local and laws and regulations relating to employment and staffing issues, including modern slavery laws. They must also confirm they comply with international human rights and labour standards (for employees and contractors).
Where the results of the Questionnaire are not satisfactory or if any other factors come to our attention to indicate that an enhanced level of investigation is required, this will be undertaken either in the form of a physical audit, or by such other approach as we deem appropriate in the circumstances.
We monitor our suppliers on an ongoing basis and will end our relationship with any suppliers who we believe may be involved in modern slavery or human trafficking.
We actively and at least annually review our HR policies and procedures, together with our HR consultants Conundrum Consulting Ltd, to ensure that we comply with all applicable laws and protect the rights and freedoms of all those working on our operations.
Our Employee Handbook addresses issues such as working hours, working conditions, discrimination, diversity, equality, health and safety in the workplace, holiday and sick pay and the protection of personal data. The Handbook also details our whistleblowing policy which can be used to report any instances of modern slavery, and will protect whistle blowers who highlight to us any risk of slavery or human trafficking within or linked to us through our supply chain.
Big fish is committed to an ongoing review of its policies, procedures and contracting practices in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking and any changes will be reflected in future annual statements. Our next Statement will be made at the end of our Financial year.
