Did you know that the word freelancer has a slightly swashbuckling origin?
It comes from the early 1800’s and literally meant “a free lance” — a mercenary knight or soldier who offered his lance (weapon) for hire, rather than serving one lord or master.
Although we don’t need one of those, we’re always happy to meet modern day creative freelancers as we use them a lot! So, whether you’ve been around the block or you’re just getting started read on!
The truth is, most creative work looks and feels the same because most ‘creative agencies’ are in the business of reassurance, not originality. They give clients what they expect, rather than what will make people stop, look twice, and actually care.
We, on the other hand, are interested in the other kind of work. The surprising, slightly uncomfortable, “I never would have thought of that but now I can’t un-see it” kind of work.
If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
Whether you’re a writer, director, typography nerd, art director, digital Ai obsessive, or someone who just knows how to make brands shine then we’d love to hear from you.
